GWEDE is led by a dedicated team of women from Ethiopia’s pastoral communities, who deeply understand the challenges their communities face. Our leadership model is rooted in community-driven solutions and a strong commitment to empowering women. Drawing on the diverse experiences and expertise of our team, we combine grassroots insights with professional management to deliver impactful development programs.
At GWEDE, our leadership is not just administrative—it is inspiring change from within the community. Our team includes women with decades of experience in humanitarian work, local governance, and women’s rights, which ensures our interventions are both contextually relevant and deeply impactful.
The organization’s roots are in Ethiopia’s pastoral regions, where dynamic challenges such as poverty, lack of access to healthcare, and harmful cultural practices persist. As a result, we are committed to localized, culturally sensitive programs that respond to these unique needs. Our team members bring a rich understanding of these challenges, ensuring that we are able to drive change from the ground up.
What sets GWEDE apart is our faith-based, sustainable approach. Drawing on Islamic teachings, we integrate a “Green and sustainable” perspective into all our programs. This means that every intervention is designed to create long-term, environmentally conscious solutions that empower women, foster peace, and improve livelihoods.
We are proud to have women at the helm of our organization—leaders who are not only driving policy but also ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of our work. GWEDE is led by women who actively shape the future of our communities, using compassion, integrity, and courage to confront challenges and create opportunities for positive change.
