Food, Security and Livelihood

In pastoral communities, climate change induced recurrent droughts, flash floods, diseases and loss of livestock are increasingly jeopardizing food security and livelihoods.

In response, GWEDE is committed to helping these communities adapt to the evolving challenges by promoting sustainable dryland agricultural practices and creating new income-generating opportunities, with a special focus on empowering women and youth.

Our efforts to support women farmers include the introduction of climate-smart agricultural practices such as organic farming, and sustainable crop cultivation. These approaches not only boost food security but also help communities build resilience against climate-related shocks.

GWEDE is emerging as an influential force for transformative change, driven by a deep commitment to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, particularly women/girls and youth.
