Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

GWEDE delivers lifesaving, sustainable, and climate-friendly WASH interventions that improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene for vulnerable, displaced, and underserved communities.

Through the Integrated Life-Saving Response for IDPs in Kersadula and Deka Suftu (Liben Zone) supported by the UN OCHA Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund (EHF) led by PAPDA we provided essential WASH services to displaced households while strengthening community capacity to manage and sustain those services.

What we do

Distribute essential WASH and hygiene supplies to vulnerable and displaced households.

Rehabilitate and solarize water schemes to make safe water more available, reliable, and sustainable.

Construct and improve communal VIP latrines in target communities and IDP sites.

Establish and strengthen WASH Committees (WASHCOs) for community ownership and long-term sustainability.

Provide Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) support that protects the dignity, privacy, and participation of women and girls.
